Griff's Hamburgers
Irving Burger Institution Since 1963 — Combos Under $9
The old-school burger bar that has anchored Irving Boulevard since 1963 — the original parking-lot sign still stands out front. The official 2026 menu keeps two people comfortably under $20: a Giant Cheeseburger combo with fries and a drink is $8.99, the Giant Hamburger combo is $8.59, and the smaller Muncher combos run just $4.59. Griddled patties, thin crispy fries, shakes made with real ice cream, and a drive-thru open until 11 every night.
Burger Town
The Nortena Burger — Monterrey-Style & Huge
A little drive-thru building in a parking lot off Irving Boulevard, slinging a Monterrey, Mexico recipe since 2008. The famous Nortena burger comes stacked with a thin slice of ham, avocado and a jalapeno kick, and regulars report a burger, fries and drink for under $10 a person — so two eat for right around $20. They do street tacos, tortas and elote too. Cash-friendly, no frills, closed Sundays.
Taqueria El Tacazo
Irving Street Tacos Since 2012 — A Few Dollars Each
An Irving-born taqueria that has grown to multiple locations on the strength of proper street tacos: asada, trompo-pastor, chorizo, suadero, pollo and tripa on fresh tortillas, plus tortas and quesadillas. Tacos run a few dollars each and dinner plates come with rice and beans, so two people can build a full taco spread for well under $20. Hit the original on Irving Blvd or the Grauwyler Road location.
Empa Mundo
Gourmet Argentinian Empanadas — About $5–6 Each
A Belt Line Road counter spot that made Yelp's Top 100 places to eat in the entire US, hand-folding Argentinian empanadas since 2010 — brisket, cheesesteak, spicy chicken, the Texas Twinkie, and guava and cheese for dessert, each one bagged, labeled and served with chimichurri. At about $5–6 apiece, two people share four and land right around $20. It's BYOB, and regulars grab a box on the way to DFW Airport.
Country Cafe
Old-School Diner Breakfast All Day — Huge Portions
A no-frills diner tucked off Airport Freeway where the food comes out hot, fast and enormous — egg plates, biscuits and gravy, pancakes, breakfast burritos and a chicken fried steak locals swear beats anything nearby, at prices reviewers call about 30 percent cheaper than other diners in the area. Two people do a full sit-down breakfast or lunch for around $20. Open at 6 a.m. every day but Sunday.
Mama’s Daughters’ Diner
$6.95 Breakfast Special, Open to Close
A family-run Texas institution — 65-plus years of homemade rolls, cornbread and pie, featured in Southern Living — where breakfast is served open to close and the numbers still work: the Mama’s Daughters Special (two eggs with toast, biscuits, pancakes or French toast) is $6.95 on the current menu, breakfast tacos are $6.99, and a cheeseburger runs $6.99. Two do a full sit-down breakfast for $14–19. Skip the $11.95 meat-and-three if you’re holding the cap — and note kids 10 and under eat free all day Tuesday.
Taj Chaat House
Live Pani Puri & Dosas — Irving's Desi Street Food Landmark
The landmark of Irving's Indian food corridor: an all-vegetarian street-food kitchen on Rochelle Road where the pani puri is assembled live at the counter (about $6.50), vada pav runs about $7.50, and crispy dosas with sambar and chutney are about $12. Two people graze the chaat counter — pani puri, papdi chaat, a vada pav to split — for right around $20. Finish with masala chai or fresh sugarcane juice.
Go Loco Street Tacos (was Dos Tacos)
Gas Station Tacos at the Gateway Shell — $2 Taco Tuesdays
The gas-station taco counter Irving's tourism bureau made famous as Dos Tacos now runs as Go Loco Street Tacos & Burritos — same Gateway Shell at MacArthur and I-635, same made-in-house-since-2010 lineage by the operators' own account, new branding and menu. The deals still fit our format: $2 Taco Tuesdays and a five-taco platter regulars price around $10 keep two people in the $16–20 range. Reviews since the changeover are split between Dos Tacos loyalists and new fans, so consider this one a taste test with a patio.
💡 Pro tip: All deals are community-verified but prices and availability change. Always check the restaurant's website or app before making a special trip — and if something's expired, flag it on our main directory so we can update it.
