Pocahontas Pancake & Waffle House
Two Breakfasts + Coffee — Under $20 (Oceanfront Since 1974)

Voted 'Best Pancake House in Virginia Beach 2002' by Food Network's 'Best Of' series. The dining room reads like a Jamestown-history theme park: hand-painted murals, a working teepee structure built right inside, and a long stream of regulars who've been coming for decades. Buttermilk pancakes (ask for the smaller size if the regular looks excessive), Belgian waffles, three-egg omelets, and breakfast platters. Two basic breakfasts plus coffee comfortably under $20. Open daily 7am–1pm year-round. 3420 Atlantic Ave at the North End.

Legend in town said Mary's day started before sunrise — biscuits before dawn, eggs over the grill at 6, and breakfast plates anchored by country ham, hash browns, and her own homemade biscuits. The kitchen still cooks from her original recipes today: hearty country breakfasts, fried chicken, collards, milkshakes, and homemade pies. Six blocks from the Oceanfront with free parking.
